Saint Paul Embraces Global Connections Through Cultural Festivals

Saint Paul, Minnesota, has long been a hub for cultural exchange and international events, reflecting its commitment to embracing global connections. Two notable events highlight this dedication: the International Festival of Minnesota and the World Juniors Hockey Championship.

International Festival of Minnesota

After a seven-year hiatus, the International Festival of Minnesota (IFest-MN), formerly known as the Festival of Nations, made a triumphant return on April 10–11, 2026, at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. The reimagined festival featured participation from 67 nations and ethnic communities, celebrating Minnesota’s rich cultural diversity and global ties. Attendees enjoyed global cuisine, hands-on multicultural activities, artisan goods, and music and dance performances throughout the two-day event.

World Juniors Hockey Championship

Saint Paul also played a pivotal role in hosting the 2026 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Juniors Championship from December 26, 2025, to January 5, 2026. The city welcomed teams and fans from 10 nations, including the USA, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Slovakia, Sweden, and Switzerland. Downtown Saint Paul transformed into the tournament’s heartbeat, offering big games, electric crowds, and a warm, walkable city ready for fans from around the globe.

These events underscore Saint Paul’s dedication to fostering international relationships and celebrating cultural diversity, enriching the community and strengthening global ties.
